On the last day of Term 2 we celebrated Matariki, the Maori New Year with some fun activities in each teacher led (kaiako) group of mahi (work). Joseph enjoyed colouring in a shard of the star (whetu) mural and also learnt how to make and colour in a Potaka takiri or Maori string game. Once he got it going, he enjoyed listening to the sound it made with his friends. Kapai ehoa, from Mrs Carter.

Joseph has been learning how to move and control a soccer ball as part of our weekly PE sessions with Eastern Suburbs Football coaches Juliette and Callum. She has even learnt how to stop the ball using one foot, remember the no hands rule!
Joseph has been making progress on the Better Start Literacy Approach program in reading and writing 4 letter words and identifying rhyming words from the story called Dress up Hullabaloo!
Jospeh was awarded the Duffy certificate at assembly on Friday for making an improvement in writing and sharing his ideas about what he did on the weekend. Well done from Mrs Carter.
I coloured in the petals of the flower using different coloured crayons. Then I used the scissors to cut out the flower and the leaf and I stuck it onto the card and wrote some kind words inside for my Mum.
I enjoyed drawing a picture of myself and then using crayon and dye to colour it in. I have learnt what I like and don’t like as part of our All About Me Inquiry for this term.
Joseph enjoyed learning the dance moves for the Cook Island group and performed on stage, showing pride and enjoyment of his culture!
